On Clear Creek, east of 7th and Washington, near Commerce City, Colorado, a crew from Denver's WGN Channel 2 met with folks from the Gold Prospectors of the Rockies at 5:30 a.m. on August 2nd to tape gold panners in action. On hand from the club were Ken Barker and Jeff & Donna Mosteller. the WGN crew included intrepid reporter Dan Daru, a remote camera man, a remote camera operator, and a WGN intern. The edited tape was shown at the GPR meeting on August 20th. Dan Daru provided several fun moments, such as when he poured out a copper pan of concentrates (that Ken told him were worth $150.00) to use the pan as a prop, listed his Prospectors' Glossary of Terms (see below), and when he was told that there is gold in foods and medicines, likened eating gold to being a "human sluice box" (don't pan out those concentrates, Dan!). Jeff said that fun was had by all.
